Michael Kors and His Digital Red Carpet

According to Rachel Strugatz of WWD, “Michael Kors will amp up its digital presence this week with the redesign of Destination Kors and the introduction of new digital video and content series, “Living the Kors Life.” The editorial content arm of the brand’s digital flagship launched last year but, as of today, the overhauled site is mobile optimized for the first time. Kors’ social media channels — including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and Weibo — will all cross promote the brand’s editorial content.

Take a look at his impressive new website, Destination Kors. Finally we get to see consistent coverage of the fashion world through the eyes of one of the world’s most well-known fashion icons. Incorporating video, blogs and a click-through shopping section in addition to an e-commerce section is pretty standard today. However, adding social channels and tools as well as mobile to garner a larger audience than just Destination Kors is essential. The digital canvas is growing and for the consumer, content is expected to be available throughout.

Yet, somehow, must luxury brands just don’t get it. Or possibly, don’t know how to do it. Either way, Michael Kors is getting on the bandwagon and it is nice to see him embrace the importance of digital in such a way that it keeps it real with the voices of his followers.

Next step: gaming or contests…let’s keep this thing evolving!
